Compensation: £14.59 to £15.34 per hour.

Employment Type: Casual.

Work Schedule: 0-37 hours per week, depending on demand.

Location: Crawley and East Grinstead.

As a Bicycle Training Facilitator, you will positively influence many individuals in the community by:

  • Promoting and enhancing safe cycling practices.
  • Encouraging positive attitudes towards road usage.
  • Increasing awareness of road and traffic conditions.
  • Building confidence in trainees to navigate local roads on bicycles.

Your responsibilities will include conducting training sessions for school-aged children and adults, either in groups or individually. Adhering to the National Standards for Cycle Training, you will instruct on essential road safety principles and bike handling techniques, along with basic maneuvers on local streets.

You will deliver all three levels of Bikeability to various age groups and provide instruction to beginners as necessary. Furthermore, you will work closely with schools to coordinate Bikeability training sessions, serving as the primary contact between educational institutions and West Sussex County Council.

We provide training for qualified candidates to become a fully certified Bikeability Instructor (1st4Sport Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training).

Required Skills and Experience

Essential Skills:

  • Strong verbal communication abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Competence in literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team to ensure high-quality training with an appropriate instructor-to-trainee ratio.
  • Skills in evaluation and assessment.

Qualifications and/or Experience:

  • Fully qualified National Standard Instructor (NQIQ or 1st4Sport Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training) or currently pursuing this qualification.
  • Experienced and skilled cyclist.
  • Familiarity with National Standards for Cycle Training and relevant sections of the Highway Code.
  • Basic knowledge of bicycle maintenance.
  • Experience in teamwork.
  • Background in teaching or instructing.
  • Experience working with children.
