Position Overview

The role involves delivering comprehensive midwifery services in a secure setting, collaborating with a diverse healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for women, birthing individuals, and their infants.

We encourage applications from final-year student midwives for Newly Qualified Midwife positions.

Key Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled band 6 midwife to join our maternity services. The successful candidate will have the chance to enhance their expertise across various maternity domains, including both high-risk and low-risk intrapartum care, maternity triage, and antenatal and postnatal inpatient services. We take pride in delivering exceptional care within a supportive and dynamic team environment.

Our maternity unit features a birth center equipped with multiple birthing rooms designed to create a calming atmosphere for labor. The delivery suite is recently updated, providing a safe and tranquil space for childbirth, including specialized facilities for bereavement care. Our mixed antenatal and postnatal ward is designed to facilitate a restful recovery experience. The maternity triage department works closely with our antenatal day unit, utilizing established protocols to ensure high standards of care.

Job Duties

Responsibilities Include:

  • Prioritizing, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating midwifery care to maintain high standards.
  • Facilitating effective communication among women, infants, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Supporting the Ward Manager/Team Leader in overseeing delegated responsibilities.
  • Participating in discussions regarding professional and service-related matters.
  • Serving as a resource for colleagues, ensuring expert knowledge is readily available.
  • Maintaining accurate and defensible patient documentation in line with organizational policies.
  • Demonstrating clinical competence to deliver high-quality midwifery care.
  • Assisting in the coordination of multi-professional care for women and families.
  • Performing and assessing advanced skills to enhance patient experiences.
  • Ensuring proper use of clinical equipment and reporting any issues.
  • Adhering to Child Protection, Vulnerable Adult, and Mental Health legislation.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships with internal and external departments to optimize patient care.

Qualifications and Skills
