About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Developer to join our team in Gloucester, working in a hybrid environment that suits your routine. As a key member of our Continuous Improvement Team, you will be working within our Bespoke Platform and at Programme level, using the Scrum Framework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, support, and maintain our main Specialist General Insurance Platform
  • Collaborate with Platform Architect, System Analysts, and Product Owners to produce systems designs and specifications
  • Participate in continuous improvement reviews through Sprint retrospectives, identifying and leading opportunities to improve current methods, practices, and processes
  • Work with the wider systems development and system test teams to ensure successful completion and deployment of changes
  • Apply your expertise in the Scrum Framework and proactively seek new ways of working
Requirements
  • Experience in developing enterprise-scale Java applications (Java 11+)
  • Ability to write automated tests
  • Understanding of relational databases
  • Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience with Git, Git Flow, and BitBucket version control
  • Knowledge of working with Jenkins pipelines
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong understanding of software design and software architecture principles
