About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Developer to join our team at Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. As a Java Developer, you will play a key role in the development and maintenance of our main Specialist General Insurance Platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, support, and maintain our main Specialist General Insurance Platform
  • Collaborate with Platform Architect, System Analysts, and Product Owners to produce systems designs and specifications
  • Participate in continuous improvement reviews through Sprint retrospectives, identifying and leading opportunities to improve current methods, practices, and processes
  • Work in collaboration with the wider systems development and system test teams to ensure successful completion and deployment of changes
  • Work in the Scrum Framework, proactively seeking new ways of working

Requirements:

  • Experience of developing enterprise-scale Java applications (Java 11+)
  • Ability to write automated tests
  • Understanding of relational databases
  • Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience with Git, Git Flow, and BitBucket version control
  • Knowledge of working with Jenkins pipelines
  • The ability to engage and cooperate in productive working relationships
  • Understanding of software design and software architecture principles
