About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Developer to join our team at Royal Mail Group. As a Software Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality software solutions to support our complex IT estate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop software components to support EPS systems
  • Work with standard software development lifecycles and the RMG programme lifecycle framework
  • Assure supplier solutions to ensure compliance with requirements and procurements
  • Collaborate with senior developers and other team members to deliver high-quality technical solutions
  • Identify technologies to employ and take responsibility for delivery of reliable, maintainable code

Requirements:

  • Excellent Java knowledge with significant commercial experience in Java 11 and beyond
  • Strong OOP knowledge
  • TDD, Mocking, and CI/CD knowledge and experience
  • Experience implementing REST APIs using JSON or XML
  • Good SQL knowledge
  • Good knowledge and experience with source control systems (preferably Git)
  • Able to bring experience and ideas to help Royal Mail deliver large-scale modernization programs
  • A confident communicator – verbally and in code
  • Committed to the values of software craftsmanship
  • Identification of improvement opportunities
  • Ability to adapt and innovate
  • Experience of working in agile projects using Scrum and Kanban

Nice to Have:

  • SpringBoot knowledge and experience
  • Cloud deployments with Azure and/or Google Cloud
  • Practical DevOps experience
