Job Overview

We are currently collaborating with a wonderful Secondary School that specializes in Special Educational Needs (SEN). We seek a motivated and approachable individual to assist in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 classes designed for students with SEN requirements. The institution prioritizes creating a supportive atmosphere that allows students to thrive in their educational journey.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Assisting the classroom teacher (4-8 students per class)
  • Participating in outdoor excursions and special activity days
  • Upholding the school's vision and core values
  • Engaging with students with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), complex needs, and behavioral challenges
  • Full-time hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Conducting one-on-one and small group sessions to help students stay aligned with the curriculum

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Patience, proactivity, and resilience - this role can be demanding, yet it is immensely fulfilling
  • Experience in a SEN educational setting (not mandatory)
  • Strong skills in building relationships and rapport with students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

To be considered for the role of Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant with GSL Education, candidates should:

  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Provide an updated CV with two relevant references from the past two years.
  • Hold a DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
