We are currently collaborating with a supportive Secondary School that specializes in Special Educational Needs (SEN). We seek a proactive and personable individual to assist in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 classes, focusing on students with SEN requirements. The school prioritizes creating a nurturing atmosphere that encourages students to thrive in their learning journey.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Assisting the classroom teacher (4-8 students per class)
  • Supporting outdoor excursions and activity days
  • Upholding the school's vision and core values
  • Engaging with students with Autism Spectrum Conditions, complex needs, and challenging behaviors
  • Full-time hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Conducting 1:1 and small group sessions to ensure students remain aligned with the curriculum

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Patience, proactivity, and resilience, as this role can be demanding yet highly rewarding
  • Experience in a SEN educational setting (not mandatory)
  • Strong relationship-building skills with students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

To qualify for the role of Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant with GSL Education, candidates should:

  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Provide an updated CV with two relevant references from the past two years.
  • Hold a DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
