Healthcare Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Healthcare Assistant. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and adhere to practice guidelines and protocols.
- Support the clinical team in the provision and delivery of quality health and care services.
- Undertake, record, and follow guidelines for tasks for which you have received appropriate training.
- Perform phlebotomy skills, including near-patient testing for INR, blood glucose, and cholesterol.
- Process patient samples for dispatch to hospital laboratories.
- Measure and record patient blood pressure and report any abnormal readings to a registered clinician.
- Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during, and after patient care interventions.
- Clean and disinfect touchpoint surfaces to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
- Conduct long-term condition monitoring and NHS Health Check screening.
- Have a basic level of computer literacy and use email effectively.
- Accurately record patient contact information using appropriate templates and coding.
- Notify the GP or nurse of any significant patient issues.
- Liaise with and assist members of the administrative team.
- Act as a chaperone when requested.
You will be expected to maintain confidentiality and adhere to our practice policies and procedures regarding confidentiality and data protection.
You will also be responsible for implementing and leading on health and safety and infection control measures, including personal security systems, awareness of national standards, and good practice guidelines.

Quality and CommunicationYou will strive to maintain quality within the practice and contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on your own and team activities and making suggestions for improvement.
You will also communicate effectively with other team members, patients, and carers, and recognize the importance of peoples' needs for alternative methods of communication.
Requirements- Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience of working within a nursing or clinical team.
