About You
As a Senior Financial Manager, you will:

  • Cultivate credible and collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders, addressing their needs while providing constructive challenges.
  • Utilize your analytical and communication skills to present clear financial insights and options to decision-makers.
  • Work autonomously to resolve issues, effectively planning and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Lead a small team of finance professionals, guiding them to focus on key priorities and motivating them to reach their full potential.
  • Possess a solid understanding of core financial processes relevant to local government.
  • Hold a recognized CCAB qualification or equivalent, with substantial experience in a senior finance role.

About the Role

We are looking for proactive individuals to join us as Senior Financial Managers in our esteemed Financial Services team.

Job Purpose

  • Deliver comprehensive financial management services to senior officers, embodying the Council's values to achieve our ambition of being the best council in the country.
  • Ensure financial information is integral to decision-making processes, contributing to the Council's efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support transformational projects within the financial management service, managing your area of service and leading initiatives to evaluate costs, benefits, and risks.
  • Provide expert financial guidance and management information to support effective decision-making.
  • Collaborate with senior officers to produce annual budgets, budget action plans, and timely financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of finance professionals delivering various financial support services.
  • Foster a culture of performance management within the Finance Leadership Team.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with members and senior managers, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Oversee the monitoring of capital and revenue budgets, ensuring effective risk management.
  • Coordinate financial processes and reporting in alignment with organizational deadlines.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to elected members and senior officers.
  • Evaluate service provision and propose innovative solutions to enhance service quality.

Qualifications
Hold a relevant CCAB qualification or equivalent with experience in a senior finance role. Evidence of continuous professional development is essential.
