Job Title: Consultant Psychiatrist

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at the Oakdale Centre CiC. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in providing expert psychiatric care to individuals with ADHD.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead our new Prescribing Service dedicated to children and adults diagnosed with ADHD. You will be responsible for providing initial assessments, writing and reviewing prescriptions, and coordinating medication management. You will also contribute to governance and audit, ensuring that service delivery focuses on the quality agenda and that dignity, privacy, and respect are afforded to service users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert psychiatric care to individuals with ADHD, including medication prescribing, reviews, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team environment to provide a specialist clinical assessment and intervention ADHD service to children, young people, and adults.
  • Write and review prescriptions for controlled drugs and other medications, ensuring treatment is tailored effectively to the individual needs of the child, young person, or adult.
  • Provide initial assessments to review mental health, social circumstances, and physical health.
  • Generate prescriptions using appropriate prescribing formularies and monitoring and reviewing thereafter regarding the effectiveness, continued appropriateness, and safety of the prescribing intervention.
  • Support the transfer of prescribing and monitoring of ADHD medication to primary care sector through knowledge of Shared Care Protocol arrangements.
  • Contribute to governance and audit, ensuring that service delivery focuses on the quality agenda and that dignity, privacy, and respect are afforded to service users.
Requirements
  • Consultant Psychiatrist with relevant experience in treatments for ADHD.
  • Full GMC Registration (specialist register).
  • Current MRCPsych status (or equivalent).
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Working knowledge of Mental Health Legislation, risk management principles, and practical risk assessment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of interventions specific to the service.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with staff, patients, families, carers, and professionals.
  • Able to establish links with other services and professionals.
  • Able to effectively manage risk.
  • Able to use IT systems competently.
  • Physically fit to undertake duties related to the service area.
