The Supporting Families Practice Team operates within the realm of Children's Services, delivering essential training, support, advice, and guidance to professionals engaged in early help interventions across Hertfordshire. Our goal is to ensure that families receive timely and appropriate assistance from the right services.

As a Families First Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing Early Help support by offering individualized coaching and training regarding the Early Help Module System (EHM) to partners and practitioners. Your responsibilities will also include identifying and directing families to additional Early Help services, as well as maintaining a thorough understanding of referral pathways and processes.

You will report to the Senior Families First Coordinator and collaborate closely with them to ensure that Early Help support is communicated effectively to partners, demonstrating impact and fostering positive outcomes for families throughout Hertfordshire.

Although your role will not involve direct interaction with families, you will meet with them to assess their needs and assist their Key Worker in conducting a Families First Assessment (FFA). You will help develop a SMART Action Plan tailored to meet the families' needs and may be required to chair and take minutes at Team Around the Family (TAF) Meetings.

Additionally, you will be responsible for delivering both group and individual training sessions to professionals, utilizing both virtual and in-person formats.

This position offers support across the county.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Families First Assessments and Early Help support within Hertfordshire.
  • Proven experience in multi-agency collaboration to deliver Early Help, with the ability to communicate effectively across various levels.
  • Experience in engaging with families, children, and young people to understand their priorities.
  • Outcome-focused with strong attention to detail, leveraging report writing skills to identify needs and strengths, which inform action plans.
  • Demonstrated ability in stakeholder engagement across diverse services and agencies.
  • Proficient in managing professional conflicts and challenging conversations, employing negotiation skills for effective partnership collaboration.
  • Self-driven with the capacity to handle competing priorities while recognizing the importance of others' roles in achieving desired outcomes.
  • Strong digital literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Previous experience in training delivery is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with minute-taking and chairing meetings is a plus.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required for transportation between appointments and meetings.
