Job Description

**Job Title:** Depot Support Operative

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Depot Support Operative to join our team at Nationwide Platforms. As a key member of our depot team, you will be responsible for providing support to our drivers and engineers, ensuring the smooth operation of our depot and contributing to the success of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Drivers: Work with drivers to ensure all trucks are loaded in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Machine Management: Pick and make available machines for drivers as notified on Transport planning sheets.
  • Load Management: Ensure all vehicles and drivers have loads available to maximise driving hours and vehicle efficiency.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Ensure all diesel machines have tanks filled and chargeable invoicing information is completed daily.
  • Yard Management: Ensure machine layout is maintained/improved to use available yard space efficiently.
  • Parking and Storage: Park all machines after engineers have parked in laydown area.
  • Quality and Safety: Complete planned maintenance activities including work to improve machine standards in the depot (cleaning and painting) and within Livery guidelines.
  • Inventory Management: Improve/organise engineers stores to ensure efficient use of parts in line with the LSM.
  • Customer Service: Act as an ambassador for the company, providing a high standard of customer care and being polite at all times.
  • Personal Appearance: Maintain high levels of personal appearance, ensuring uniform and personal protective equipment are used correctly.
  • Team Support: Support the Location/Workshop Service Manager, Senior Service Engineer & the shift supervisor in the effective running of maintenance operations.
  • General Maintenance: Provide general depot maintenance where required.
  • Electric Machine Management: Ensure electric machines are on charge before and after inspection.
  • On-Site Support: Provide on-site support when required.
  • Task Management: Use the internal mobile application to complete specified tasks planned by the LSM/WSM or SSE.

  • Reliability and Punctuality: Reliable and punctual.
  • Basic Understanding of Powered Access: Basic understanding of powered access.
  • Keen to Learn: Keen to learn and progress within an engineering environment.
  • Flexible Attitude: Flexible attitude.
  • Team Player: Ability to work as a team player in a reactive working environment.
  • Full UK Drivers Licence: Full UK Drivers Licence.
  • Forklift Licence: Forklift Licence desirable.
