About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team at VGC, a leading provider of construction services. As a key member of our infrastructure project management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial success of our critical infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Manage the procurement process, including the preparation and evaluation of tender documents.
  • Monitor project expenditure, identify potential cost overruns, and provide solutions to mitigate financial risks.
  • Provide expert advice on cost management and commercial strategy to ensure the financial success of projects.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to negotiate contracts, resolve commercial issues, and ensure that financial aspects align with project objectives.
  • Regularly report on financial performance, cost forecasting, and variance analysis, and maintain detailed records to support project audits and compliance checks.
Requirements
  • Possess strong analytical skills and a proven track record in cost management and quantity surveying within large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably within the railway sector.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential, as you will need to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including contractors, clients, and regulatory bodies, to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy in cost reporting are crucial, as the role involves managing complex budgets and ensuring that all financial data is reliable and up to date.
  • Be highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and adaptable to the dynamic environment of a major infrastructure project.
  • A proactive problem-solver, you will be expected to identify and address financial risks early, providing solutions that support the project's success.
  • Have a deep understanding of NEC contracts and be comfortable navigating the legal and regulatory frameworks governing large-scale projects.
Qualification Requirements
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, or a related field.
  • Have a minimum of 4 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on large-scale infrastructure or railway projects, is required.
  • Experience with NEC contracts and a strong understanding of cost management software and financial reporting tools are essential.
  • You should have a track record of successfully managing budgets, delivering cost savings, and supporting the financial aspects of complex construction projects.
