Building Control Support Officer

We are currently recruiting for a Building Control Support Officer on behalf of our public sector client. The successful applicant will have proven knowledge of the processes involved in validating and assessing all Building Control applications, including initial notice.
Substantial experience of working in a building control environment and proven experience of carrying and managing a varied caseload is essential.
This is a temporary contract initially for 3-6 months with a view to further extension. The hourly rate is £20.27 for PAYE or £25.92 for Umbrella.
Key Responsibilities:
- To be proficient in the use of software relating to Building Control, with previous knowledge of Microsoft systems (training on internal systems will be provided).
- Attention to detail is imperative.
- To assess and validate all Building Control applications submitted within agreed timeframes, using a checklist.
- To register and carry out processing of applications for Building Control, including Full Plans, Building Notices, Initial Notices, Regularisations, Demolitions, Dangerous Structures, and Competent Persons work notifications, ensuring accuracy in data input.
- To identify cases that are invalid and liaise with the applicant/agent/approved inspector or relevant person/body/organisation to gather correct information.
- To accurately transfer and complete monitoring data for housing completions to the organisation's database.
- To accurately scale, measure, read, and interpret plans and calculate development-related application fees and charges.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of financial processes and systems used in supporting building control.
- Substantial experience of using software to process and manage building control case information.
- Experience of undertaking project support and administrative tasks.
- Substantial experience of working in a building control environment.
