Key Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership
- Provide public health leadership to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
- Lead innovative use of population health intelligence and support system-wide public health strategies.
- Develop and implement robust evaluation frameworks to determine what works in public health interventions within the region.
- Population Health Intelligence
- Lead the delivery of impactful Joint Strategic Needs Assessments (JSNAs) for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, ensuring they inform health and care strategies.
- Drive the integrated approach to population health intelligence across Cambridgeshire County Council directorates and external partners.
- Public Health and Evaluation
- Oversee the strategic development, commissioning, delivery, and evaluation of public health programs and services.
- Ensure that public health policies and strategies are evidence-based and effectively communicated to stakeholders, including Councillors and health boards.
- Partnership and Collaboration
- Work closely with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System, Joint Health and Wellbeing Board, and other local authorities to achieve shared public health goals.
- Influence and collaborate with partners across public, private, and third sectors to address health determinants and improve outcomes.
- Lead on delegated responsibilities from the Secretary of State related to public health protection.
- Management Responsibilities
- Line manage the Public Health Intelligence Team Manager.
- Manage relevant public health budgets and act as an authorized signatory.
- Deputize for the Director of Public Health as required.
- Professional Development and Obligations
- Maintain current registration with the General Medical Council (GMC), General Dental Council (GDC), or UK Public Health Register (UKPHR).
- Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) and adhere to professional ethical standards.
- Inspire commitment to public health outcomes and advocate for prevention as a core feature of public sector reform.
- Qualifications and Experience
- Substantial experience in public health, with a proven track record of leadership in a complex, multi-organizational environment.
- Expertise in public health intelligence, health improvement strategies, and health protection.
- Personal Qualities
- Ability to manage complex challenges and deliver public health outcomes in a diverse and dynamic environment.
- High level of tact, diplomacy, and leadership to work effectively within local political structures while advocating for necessary changes.
