Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Fuel Quality Manager to join our team at Encyclis. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving the quality of the waste supply into our Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs).

The successful candidate will have a strong background in waste management, with experience in managing waste quality within the waste sector. You will be responsible for building close working relationships with fuel suppliers and ensuring compliance with waste specifications within fuel supply agreements.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a proactive and detail-oriented approach. You will work closely with our Operations teams to ensure excellent standards of Health and Safety are maintained, and liaise with regulatory bodies as required to ensure contract compliance.

Responsibilities:
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Management and coordination of day-to-day obligations and responsibilities under fuel supply agreements.
  • Undertaking supplier site visits, inspections, and audits to ensure fuel quality is improved.
  • Supporting Operations teams with waste acceptance, on-site inspections, data management, and managing instances of non-conforming waste.
  • Monitoring of sampling regimes for compliance, Calorific Value, and REGOs.
  • Coordination of deliveries following the O&M delivery schedule.
  • Coordination of diversions during downtime and where fuel has been deemed unacceptable.
  • Supporting the Fuel Supply Manager in all aspects of contract management, including price increases, variations, reconciliations, and contract renewals.
  • Preparation of Environment Agency declarations with internal and external customers.
  • Working closely with other departments within Encyclis to ensure excellent standards of Health and Safety are maintained.
  • Liaison with outside regulatory bodies as required to ensure contract compliance.
  • Ad hoc project work in relation to fuel quality improvement, assessment of alternative waste markets, and compliance and operational requirements.
  • Supporting the Fuel Supply Manager in the procurement, negotiation, and management of fuel supply contracts, including spot tonnage.
Requirements:
  • Essential Qualifications:
  • Experience of managing waste quality within the waste sector, ideally including local authorities, as well as logistics coordination.
  • Experience of managing waste quality sampling.
  • Proactive thinking with detail-oriented and creative problem-solving approach.
  • Good experience of supplier management and familiarity with fuel supply contracts.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and operational staff.
  • Understanding of the UK waste market and relevant policies.
  • Desirable Qualifications:
  • Relevant H&S qualification.
  • Contract Management experience.
