About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pain Medicine Specialist to join our team at Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group. As a Consultant in Pain Management, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and leading our pain management services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert medical care to patients with pain management needs, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to deliver effective pain management services.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based pain management strategies and protocols.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare teams and services to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and appraise junior medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
  • Participate in research and audit projects to improve pain management services and outcomes.
Requirements
  • General medical qualification (e.g. MBBS or equivalent) and a Licence to Practise.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Anaesthetics or a recognized equivalent in any other country.
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in pain medicine, including bio-psycho-social perspectives and wider medical knowledge.
  • Experience of leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage competing demands, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance policies and procedures, with the ability to contribute to their development and implementation.
  • Approved educational supervisor training and experience of supervising junior medical staff.
  • Experience of carrying out audit projects and participating in research projects, with a publication record.
