Position Overview

The Manchester College, a leading institution in Further Education, is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Student Support and Foundation Learning Department. This role is based at our Wythenshawe Campus and is a permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week) during term time.

Role Responsibilities

As a Student Welfare Support Coordinator, your primary responsibility will be to enhance the personal, social, and health education of students requiring pastoral assistance. This includes identifying 'at risk' indicators and formulating action plans, while effectively collaborating with both internal and external support services.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring students achieve their educational goals by addressing their pastoral and welfare needs, including providing timely interventions for those who may be disengaged.

Your efforts will contribute to preparing learners for future employment and active participation in society beyond their educational journey at The Manchester College.

Key Qualifications

To excel in this position, candidates should possess:

  • A Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics or an equivalent.
  • A minimum of Level 3 qualification in Education, Social Care, Mentoring, Youth Work, Counselling, or Advice & Guidance.
  • Proven experience in utilizing ICT systems and programs effectively.
  • A track record of supporting learners in an educational environment, preferably in Further or Higher Education.
  • Experience working with students aged 16 and above, including adult learners.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing support for academic, personal, social, and health development.
  • Experience in motivating and implementing effective change through targeted pastoral interventions or improving attendance.
