Job Summary

A new position has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to report directly to the CEO and Group CFO. This role will form part of the site senior management team and will play an active part in the formation and execution of company strategy along with day-to-day management of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Day-to-day management of the finance team, including recruitment, training, and development
    • Collaboration with the senior leadership team to ensure operational and financial KPIs are developed, reported against, and controlled
  • Financial Planning and Reporting
    • Production of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flows, providing commentary on results and key variances
    • Development of budgets and financial forecasts and presenting reports to management
  • Cash Flow and Expense Management
    • Managing cash flow and expenses by monitoring transactions and reviewing internal reports
  • Regulatory Reporting
    • Regulatory reporting, including production of quarterly returns and preparation of wind-down assessments
  • Financial Systems and Controls
    • Ensure maintenance of general ledger, with all financial transactions properly recorded, filed, and reported
    • Prepare year-end IFRS compliant financial statements
  • External Relations
    • Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and management of the audit process
  • Cost Reduction and Improvement
    • Review all financial plans and budgets to identify cost reduction opportunities
Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role must be a fully qualified ACA/CIMA/ACCA accountant with experience of a Senior Finance Manager/Financial Controller level role. Previous experience of operating in a regulated environment would be preferred but not essential. You should have a strong background in both financial and management accounting and be an experienced user of accounting and ERP systems. The role will require a degree of coaching and mentoring to develop the finance team to create a culture of continuous improvement and empowerment. You should have excellent business judgement, exceptional analytical and planning skills, coupled with the ability to communicate at all levels in the organisation.
