Job Description

Fowler Welch is seeking a skilled LGV Driver to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring compliance with site rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide high standards of customer service and relations to customers and suppliers, ensuring compliance with their site rules and regulations.
  • Transport Operations: Liaise with the Transport Operations desk to make them aware of any potential difficulties, delays, or variations from the original brief.
  • Vehicle Safety: Ensure that the vehicle is always driven with utmost concern for other road users, pedestrians, and the local environment.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete all documentation required by the Company and the customer.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all Company rules and regulations, as well as compliance with legislation, are always achieved.
  • Load Management: Ensure all documentation is checked against consignment, reporting any issues or differences.
  • Punctuality: Strive to ensure the punctual collection and delivery of all loads.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Always ensure the safety of the vehicle and its load while on duty, reporting any defects to the Traffic office/Operations team as soon as identified.
  • Loading and Unloading: Assist with the loading and unloading of the vehicle, using manual or mechanical lifting equipment where authorized and trained to do so.
  • Flexibility: Be flexible with shift starting and finishing times.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle while on duty, leaving the vehicle in clean condition, and reporting any defects immediately.
Qualifications
  • LGV Class 1 Licence: Possession of a valid LGV Class 1 Licence.
  • CPC: Current CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of the Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills.
  • Time Management: Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
  • Workload Prioritization: Effectively prioritize workload to meet set deadlines.
