About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a 'Good' Ofsted-rated secondary school in Manchester. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs, ensuring they have the opportunity to succeed in a mainstream classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other learning or behavioural difficulties
  • Assist teachers in the delivery of lessons, adapting materials and teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual students
  • Support students with emotional and social development, helping them build confidence, resilience, and independence
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and work with the school's SENCO to ensure the students' specific needs are met
  • Assist with behaviour management and create a positive, inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents where necessary
  • Encourage students' engagement with their education and help them overcome any barriers to learning
Requirements
  • Experience or a strong interest in working with young people with SEN
  • A compassionate, patient, and supportive approach to working with students who may face academic or social challenges
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a dynamic classroom environment
  • Previous experience in an educational setting or working with children with SEN is highly desirable but not essential
  • A genuine passion for helping students reach their full potential and overcome learning barriers
