Job Title: Middle East and Africa News Editor

The Financial Times is seeking an experienced news editor to lead our coverage of the Middle East and Africa region. As a key member of our World News Desk, you will be responsible for overseeing the editorial direction of our coverage, working closely with our team of reporters and editors to deliver high-quality, in-depth reporting on the region's most important stories.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commission and edit stories on a wide range of topics, from politics and economics to business and culture
  • Work closely with our team of reporters and editors to develop and implement editorial strategies for the region
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as our digital team, to ensure seamless integration of our coverage across all platforms
  • Act as a key point of contact for correspondents and other stakeholders in the region
  • Present the World agenda to our morning editorial conference
Requirements:

We are looking for an experienced news editor with a strong track record of commissioning and editing high-quality stories. You should have a deep understanding of the Middle East and Africa region, as well as a keen eye for detail and a ability to work well under pressure. You will be a strong communicator and team player, with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
