Gittisham Hill Park is a retirement community designed for individuals aged 65 and over, located in a picturesque area near Honiton in Devon, surrounded by 12 acres of beautiful parkland within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This unique setting offers a variety of retirement housing options, including one and two-bedroom residences nestled within the lovely grounds.
As a Community Transport and Maintenance Specialist at Retirement Villages Group, you will be instrumental in ensuring the comfort and safety of our residents while upholding the company’s dedication to nurturing a sense of community and wellbeing. Your main duties will involve transporting residents to various locations, including medical appointments, social events, and leisure activities. Additionally, you will be tasked with performing general maintenance duties to guarantee the upkeep and functionality of our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport residents to and from various locations using the company minibus
- Assist residents with boarding and alighting from the minibus, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times
- Maintain a well-organized schedule to ensure punctual arrivals and departures
- Conduct routine safety inspections on the minibus, reporting any concerns to management
- Keep the interior of the minibus clean and free from clutter
- Assist with general maintenance tasks such as repairing fixtures, changing lightbulbs, and performing minor repairs
- Help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the community's grounds and shared spaces
Essential Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Prior experience as a driver, preferably in a healthcare or senior living context
- Thorough understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with residents and staff
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
- Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks such as changing lightbulbs and performing minor repairs
- Physical capability to lift and carry heavy items and perform manual labor as required
