Position Overview:

King's College is seeking to appoint a Stipendiary Research Fellow in the field of Biological Sciences, with a particular emphasis on the study of Symbiosis and Co-Evolution. This role offers a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their own research initiatives while engaging with the extensive expertise available within the college and the broader University environment.

Research Environment:

The Fellowship allows the candidate to either work entirely within the college or collaborate with various University departments. The successful individual will join a vibrant community of post-doctoral research Fellows who are involved in diverse projects spanning both the Sciences and the Arts and Humanities. Active participation in the college community is expected.

Fellowship Privileges:

As a member of the Governing Body, Research Fellows enjoy full privileges, which include:

  • Access to all meals
  • Limited financial support for research-related expenses
  • Potential office space and accommodation within college properties

While the primary focus is on research, Fellows are encouraged to explore opportunities for a limited amount of teaching within the University and/or College.

Stipend and Benefits:

The stipend for this Research Fellowship is competitive, with an initial amount that increases annually. Additional payments are available for teaching responsibilities, along with an accommodation allowance and a living-out allowance for those not residing in college-owned housing.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be graduates from any university. Typically, candidates will have completed their PhD but should not have more than two years of postdoctoral experience. It is essential that candidates have the right to work in the UK, as any offer will be contingent upon obtaining the necessary visa requirements.
