Position Overview:
King's College is seeking to appoint a Stipendiary Research Fellow in the field of Biological Sciences, with a particular emphasis on Symbiosis and Co-Evolution. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for the successful candidate to develop and lead their own research initiatives while engaging with the diverse expertise available within the Cambridge community.
Fellowship Benefits:
The Fellowship is designed to foster independent research, allowing the Fellow to either work entirely within the college or collaborate with various University departments. The selected candidate will become part of a vibrant group of post-doctoral research Fellows, contributing to a wide array of projects spanning both the Sciences and the Arts and Humanities.
As a member of the Governing Body, the Research Fellow will enjoy full privileges, including access to all meals, limited financial support for research-related expenses, and potential office and accommodation options within College properties. While primarily focused on research, Fellows are encouraged to explore opportunities for a limited amount of teaching within the University and/or College.
Compensation:
The stipend for this Research Fellowship starts at £24,126 (prior to the award of a doctorate) and increases to £26,807 (post-doctorate), with the potential to reach a maximum of £30,912 over time. Additionally, all Stipendiary Research Fellows receive an accommodation allowance of £3,530, with the possibility of an extra living-out allowance of up to £4,000 based on income.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must be graduates from any university. Typically, candidates will have completed their PhD but should not have more than two years of postdoctoral experience by the start date of the Fellowship. Application Process:

- A curriculum vitae (maximum three A4 pages) detailing educational background, degrees, positions held, and a list of publications.
- A research proposal document (maximum 1,500 words, excluding bibliography) outlining current research and future plans during the Fellowship.
- A writing sample (e.g., a short thesis chapter or up to three published papers) accompanied by a statement explaining the candidate's contributions to multi-author works.
Three letters of recommendation must also be submitted by the closing date. It is advisable for candidates to inform their referees in advance to ensure timely submission.
