Position Overview:
King's College is seeking to appoint a Stipendiary Research Fellow in the realm of Biological Sciences, with a particular emphasis on the themes of Symbiosis and Co-Evolution. This role offers a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their own research agenda while engaging with the extensive expertise available within the Cambridge community.
Fellowship Benefits:
The Fellowship is designed to support the chosen candidate in their research endeavors, which may be conducted entirely within the college or in collaboration with various University departments. The successful applicant will become part of a vibrant group of post-doctoral research Fellows who are engaged in diverse projects spanning both the Sciences and the Arts and Humanities.
As a Research Fellow, you will enjoy full privileges of Fellowship membership, which includes access to all meals, limited financial support for research-related expenses, and the potential for office space and accommodation within College properties. While the primary focus is on research, there are opportunities to engage in a limited amount of teaching within the University and/or College.
Compensation:
The stipend for this Research Fellowship is structured as follows: £24,126 for those pre-doctorate, £26,807 post-doctorate, with a potential increase to a maximum of £30,912 over time. Additionally, all Stipendiary Research Fellows receive an accommodation allowance of £3,530, along with a living-out allowance of up to £4,000 based on income for those not residing in college-owned accommodation.
Eligibility Criteria:
Graduates from any university are encouraged to apply. Candidates typically should have completed their PhD but must not have more than two years of postdoctoral experience by the start date of the Fellowship. It is essential for all applicants to ensure they are eligible to live and work in the UK, as any offer will be contingent upon obtaining the necessary visa requirements.

- A curriculum vitae (maximum three A4 pages) detailing educational background, degrees awarded, positions held, and a list of publications.
- A research proposal document (maximum 1,500 words, excluding bibliography) outlining current research and future plans during the Fellowship.
- A writing sample (e.g., a short thesis chapter or up to three published papers) with a covering statement explaining contributions to multi-author works.
Additionally, candidates must arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted in PDF format by the application deadline. It is advisable to nominate referees well in advance to ensure timely submission.
