Position Overview:
King's College is seeking to appoint a Stipendiary Research Fellow in the field of Biological Sciences, with a particular emphasis on Symbiosis and Co-Evolution. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their own research agenda while leveraging the extensive expertise available within the Cambridge community.
Research Environment:
The Fellowship allows for flexibility in the research setting, whether it be entirely within the college or in collaboration with various University departments. The selected Fellow will join a vibrant community of post-doctoral researchers engaged in diverse scientific and humanities projects, fostering a collaborative atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
The Research Fellow will be a member of the Governing Body, enjoying full Fellow privileges. In addition to conducting research, the Fellow is expected to reside in the vicinity of Cambridge and actively participate in the life and activities of the College. Benefits include:

- Limited financial support for research-related expenses
- Potential office space and accommodation in College properties
While the primary focus is on research, opportunities for a limited amount of teaching within the University and/or College are encouraged.
Compensation:
The stipend for this Research Fellowship is set at competitive rates, with additional payments available for teaching duties. All Stipendiary Research Fellows receive an accommodation allowance, along with a living-out allowance based on income for those not residing in college-owned housing.
Eligibility Criteria:
Graduates from any university are welcome to apply. Candidates typically should have completed their PhD but must not have more than two years of postdoctoral experience by the start date of the Fellowship.
Application Process:
Interested candidates must complete an online application, which includes:
- A curriculum vitae detailing education, degrees, positions held, and publications
- A research proposal document outlining current and proposed research (maximum 1,500 words)
- A writing sample, such as a thesis chapter or published papers
Additionally, three letters of recommendation must be submitted by the application deadline. It is advisable to nominate referees well in advance to ensure timely submission.
