Role Overview:
As a vital member of our Operational Management team, you will oversee the efficient and safe execution of core activities within our Distribution Centre. Your leadership will be instrumental in guiding a team of Managers, setting and regularly assessing objectives to align with our Distribution business plan while adhering to budgetary constraints. Collaboration with fellow Operations Managers will be key to fostering a unified approach that ensures high performance across all operational facets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example, ensuring compliance with Company Standards and Health and Safety protocols, fostering a culture of safety.
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies, guaranteeing a secure working environment for all employees.
  • Promptly escalate any safety violations or potential hazards to the appropriate management or health and safety teams.
  • Champion a safety-first culture, addressing unsafe practices constructively and proactively enhancing health and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with your line manager to strategize and execute operational plans, ensuring the site meets defined KPIs while adapting to evolving business needs.
  • Engage with peers and key stakeholders across Distribution, Head Office, and retail locations.
  • Optimize productivity, efficiency, and quality by effectively managing your direct reports.
  • Work alongside the Planning team to determine staffing needs in accordance with the business plan, while managing capacity and inventory challenges.
  • Collaborate with key business partners to establish a robust people strategy, focusing on succession planning and team development.
  • Identify and implement initiatives aimed at continuous improvement in methodologies, quality, and process consistency.
  • Assist Lead Operations Managers in developing budgets and forecasts for both capital and operational expenditures.
  • Foster colleague development through regular reviews, appraisals, and constructive feedback to cultivate high-performing teams.
  • Ensure adherence to performance, conduct, and absence management processes to address underperformance effectively.
  • Recognize and promote reward and recognition opportunities to enhance engagement on-site.
  • Manage employee relations issues in accordance with Company Policy and legal standards.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required by the business.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven managerial experience in a comparable manufacturing, processing, or distribution setting.

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to distribution.
  • Ability to analyze data and apply insights to business needs.

  • Experience working within budgetary constraints and performance targets.
