About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced anaesthetist to join our team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Substantive Consultant Anaesthetist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our anaesthesia services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing surgery and other medical procedures.
  • Develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties of the post.
  • Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care programmed activities.
  • Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and respond to their views.
  • Adhere to the Trust's customer service commitment and adopt a professional approach to customer care at all times.
  • Develop clinical practice through self-reflection and learning from experience, application of research into practice, and active contribution within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Research, Teaching, and Training
    • Provide high-quality teaching to medical undergraduates and members of other healthcare professions as required by the Service Director.
    • Contribute to training and teaching of medical trainees, medical students, other doctors in training, and other staff groups.
    • Responsible for teaching and training non-Consultant postgraduate colleagues.
    • Collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the Trust's translational research/audit portfolio, meeting the full requirements of Research Governance.

Education and Qualifications

  • FRCA or equivalent
  • CCT in Anaesthesia or equivalent (on, or within 6 months of inclusion on, Specialist Register at time of interview)

Experience

  • Experience in high-risk surgery for emergencies and ortho-trauma
