Job Overview

As an LGV Training Assessor, your main responsibility will be to enhance the quality of vocational driver training and assessments provided at DPD. This will involve practical assessment, induction, training, and mentorship of drivers. You will support the LGV Training department in its mission for continuous improvement in driver education while ensuring that our operations are not disrupted by external factors through regular site evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

The following tasks are indicative and may evolve based on business requirements.

Operational Duties

  • Execute LGV CE assessments according to DPD's driving standards and pre-use policies across the organization, including agency assessments and risk evaluations.
  • Prepare assessment reports to meet company standards and communicate results for necessary actions by relevant teams.
  • Facilitate LGV CE agency inductions that meet DPD standards, including vehicle familiarization and best driving practices.
  • Ensure all induction documentation is completed and communicated to appropriate departments.
  • Provide support for inexperienced drivers through buddying for both Transport and Network.
  • Report all operational issues promptly for timely resolution by relevant teams.
  • Conduct site assessments at DPD and customer locations to verify suitability for LGV CE equipment.
  • Perform route assessments for proposed LGV vehicle paths to ensure compatibility with intended equipment.
  • When necessary, deliver specialized training (e.g., PHV Trailer training) to DPD employees or customer staff.
  • Ensure timely communication of results from site and route assessments and training, escalating issues as needed to prevent delays.
  • Complete all administrative responsibilities to a high standard throughout your employment.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Adhere to Health, Safety, and Security protocols at all times for both DPD and customer sites.
  • Provide relevant Health, Safety, and Security information to drivers during assessments, inductions, and training sessions.
  • Share important Health, Safety, and Security details with customers and their staff during site visits and training sessions.

Required Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must possess a full LGV CE license with a minimum of three years of experience. A clean driving record and compliance with driving regulations are essential. Additionally, we expect:

  • Flexibility to work varied hours, travel, and occasionally stay away from home.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
  • Basic IT proficiency.
