About the Role:
The Director of Economic Development and Growth will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing economic growth strategies that align with the Council's vision and objectives;
- Leading the development and delivery of key economic growth initiatives, including business attraction, retention, and expansion;
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify and pursue new economic opportunities;
- Managing and leading a team of economic development professionals to achieve strategic objectives;
- Developing and managing budgets to achieve economic growth targets;
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of economic growth strategies and initiatives;
- Providing expert advice and guidance to the Council's senior leadership team on economic development matters.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience in leading economic development initiatives and strategies;
- Strong knowledge of economic development principles and practices;
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders;
- Ability to think strategically and make informed decisions;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
