Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled dietitian to join our innovative team, providing dietetic care to patients in care homes and their own homes across Brent. This is a great opportunity to develop your portfolio of dietetic skills in a community environment.

Main Duties

As a dietitian, you will be responsible for managing your own caseload, providing training programmes for care home staff, and delivering outpatient clinics. You will also be part of an experienced and supportive team of 15 community dietitians, holding monthly peer support sessions and providing 1:1 supervision to facilitate clinical excellence and personal development.

About the Role

You will be working in a community setting, providing dietetic advice to elderly patients and those requiring nutrition support. You must be able to demonstrate skills and enthusiasm for working in this environment, with good communication skills to deliver evidence-based personalized dietetic care to the diverse community in Brent.

Person Specification

We are looking for a dietitian with:

  • Degree or postgraduate diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics
  • Health and Care Professions Council registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Desirable qualifications include post-graduate qualifications in dietetic-related fields, such as health promotion or cognitive behaviour therapy.

Experience

We are seeking a dietitian with significant post-registration clinical dietetic experience in a range of clinical areas, including managing patients with nutrition-related conditions such as malnutrition, diabetes, obesity, and coeliac disease.

Skills and Knowledge

You will need:

  • Knowledge of food habits encountered in different black and minority ethnic groups
  • Advanced skills to undertake assessment and treatment of clients with nutrition-related diseases
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Desirable skills include the ability to communicate in a second language and an understanding of the nutrition-related and social issues associated with the dietetic care of elderly patients.
