The Role: Director of Chemistry

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead our Chemistry Department based at our Harrogate site, as well as provide leadership to ResChem Analytical Limited in Derby. Reporting directly to the Managing Director of the Division, you will play a crucial role in ensuring all work adheres to applicable regulatory requirements, particularly GLP guidelines specified in study plans, protocols, or work agreements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and supervision to staff dedicated to conducting a wide range of regulated studies.
  • Manage and oversee subordinate activities related to the conduct, analysis, evaluation, and reporting of contracted studies.
  • Ensure compliance with technical, quality assurance, and financial performance objectives.
  • Develop and maintain administrative procedures to guarantee high standards of data quality and reliability.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of a BSc/MSc or equivalent in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, or a related field, with relevant practical experience in a GLP environment, including working with Quality systems (GLP, GMP).
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering scientific services, encompassing OTD, Client Focus, Scheduling and Maximising Utilisation, as well as practical knowledge of Residue and Analytical Chemistry.
  • Financial acumen, including previous experience in managing a P&L is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to demonstrate team-based credibility and skills in making metrics-driven decisions leading to positive outcomes, preferably within an agrochemical environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, IT skills, motivation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Previous involvement in leading process improvements would be advantageous.
