Kathryn Hanks Recruitment Ltd is looking to recruit a Research and Development Chemist with expertise in formulation.
A background in paints, sealants, coatings, composites, or adhesives is highly desirable.

You will collaborate with a dedicated team of R&D Chemists focused on creating innovative repair solutions for challenging industrial applications.

This role is primarily laboratory-based, with potential for occasional international travel to support global partners.
You will be responsible for developing new polymeric solutions tailored for demanding industrial conditions.

Your tasks will include the design and small-scale production of coatings and repair composites, followed by rigorous testing to ensure product efficacy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and producing polymeric coatings and repair composites at a lab scale.
  • Conducting laboratory tests to confirm performance metrics, such as resistance to corrosion, high temperatures, abrasion, and chemical exposure.
  • Validating new product performance through coordination of field trials and external evaluations with industry-recognized testing facilities and clients.
Requirements:

It is essential to possess a solid understanding of formulating industrial coatings, composites, or adhesives.
Familiarity with polymer technologies utilized in industrial coatings and repair materials is crucial.
Strong practical laboratory skills in working with polymers and coatings are required.
Knowledge of performance testing methods for coatings and composites, including immersion resistance, adhesion, heat resistance, and impact resistance, is necessary.
A collaborative mindset with good initiative and adaptability is important.
Willingness to travel internationally to support global partners is expected.

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or MSc in Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry, with a comprehensive understanding of formulating industrial coatings, composites, or adhesives.

Alternatively, candidates with a BSc in Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry who can demonstrate expert formulation skills and a strong grasp of various polymer technologies relevant to the industrial coatings and repair sector are encouraged to apply.
