About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our well-established service at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work as the lead SLT in a specialist provision for secondary age students with moderate learning difficulties, based at Garston Manor School.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with an SLT assistant, school staff, and external professionals to embed speech and language objectives throughout the curriculum and in every opportunity during the school day.
  • Provide assessment and therapy to meet the needs of children and young people from 0-18, working with a wide range of diagnosis groups, including learning disability, physical and neurological impairment.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, using evidence-based practices and techniques.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, educators, and families to ensure comprehensive care and support for children and young people.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to speech and language therapy services.
Requirements
  • Recognized SLT degree qualification or equivalent (Post Graduate Diploma or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy leading to registration with HCPC).
  • HCPC Licence to Practice.
  • Fully Registered member of RCSLT.
  • Post graduate training in area of work, internal or external.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with parents, carers, and other professionals.
  • Experience of providing training and support to SLT students, SLTAs, professionals, and carers.
  • Ability to assess, analyze, interpret, and compare complex information and make decisions on appropriate course of action.
