Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced accounting professional to join our team at the University System of New Hampshire. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for performing advanced accounting and financial analysis duties, supervising junior accounting staff, and providing technical expertise to the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting
    • Prepare complex financial reports, statements, and analyses for leadership and funding agencies.
    • Develop and implement financial models and forecasts to support budget development and funding.
  • Accounting Operations
    • Perform advanced accounting duties, including ledger maintenance, cost and financial analysis, fund reconciliation, posting, and inventory control.
    • Prepare and review journal entries, budget, revenue, and expense corrections.
  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise and train junior accounting staff, delegating responsibilities and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with established policies.
    • Provide technical expertise and support to the team, including guidance on financial policies and procedures.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate complex financial information to faculty, staff, and external parties, including vendors and funding source representatives.
    • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as accounting or finance, or commensurate additional experience and/or relevant certifications.
    • 3 or more years of professional experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on financial analysis and reporting.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Expert understanding of standard finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
    • Ability to interact with standard technology platforms, including word processing, data entry, email, and internet browsing.
    • Proficiency in navigating automated accounting and financial systems.
    • Excellent mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Education and Certifications
    • Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as accounting or finance, or additional certifications in accounting or finance.
  • Public Accounting Experience
    • Experience working in public accounting, with a focus on financial analysis and reporting.
  • Supervisory Experience
    • Experience supervising junior accounting staff, with a focus on training and development.
