About the Role

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a skilled General Practitioner to join our team in the Minor Illness and Minor Injury Unit (MIAMI). As a General Practitioner in MIAMI, you will work as part of a dynamic team to provide high-quality emergency care to patients with undifferentiated problems.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work as a General Practitioner in the MIAMI Unit, providing a safe and effective emergency medicine service to patients.
  • Conduct full consultations, taking into account the higher risk of serious illness in patients attending the ED compared to those attending GP surgeries.
  • Utilize investigations (blood, X-Ray) appropriately and hand over to ED senior doctors if a patient is more complex than initially thought.
  • Follow ED practices for handing over/delegating treatments or further assessments to maintain senior doctor efficiency.
  • Work speedily, prioritize tasks, and make rapid discharge decisions where appropriate, being mindful of the 4-hour time to discharge pathway.
  • Be available and visible at all times apart from rest breaks.
  • Work within ED and MIAMI policies for clinical and operational pathways.
  • Write medical notes in similar detail to an ED senior doctor via Nervecentre.
  • Maintain positive relationships with medical practitioners in the ED and Primary Care within Leicestershire.

    • Clear, fluent, and articulate written English.

  • Qualifications:
    • Completed CCT.
    • GMC registered.
    • MBCHB or equivalent.
    • BLS Trained.
  • Management:
    • Cohesive Team Member.
    • Time management.
    • Ability to organize own workload.
