Position: Kennels / Transport Officer

Overview:

The successful applicant will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and health of all dogs within the Council's facilities. Responsibilities include the intake and removal of dogs, as well as their transportation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all dogs are healthy and well-cared for during their stay in the kennels and while being transported.
  • Uphold animal welfare standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene within the kennels.
  • Monitor for any reportable or communicable diseases.
  • Facilitate the safe transportation of dogs.
  • Engage with the public in a professional manner.
  • Handle confrontational situations effectively.
  • Report any defects related to vehicles and equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a kennel environment, adaptable to various weather conditions.
  • Experience in managing aggressive or dangerous dogs.
  • Familiarity with the Animal Welfare Act.
  • Knowledge of the Dangerous Dogs Act.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Notes:

  • A valid driving license and personal transportation are mandatory.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, with flexibility to adjust shifts as needed.
  • This role serves as a cover for a permanent position.
  • All new placements will undergo a financial fraud check.
