Position Overview

The Planning Officer at Vox Network Consultants plays a crucial role in managing Development Management tasks. This includes a collaborative approach within a specialized team, focusing on pre-application guidance, processing major and minor planning submissions, addressing conditions, and handling appeals through effective negotiations with developers and stakeholders. The role emphasizes securing community benefits through legal agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all advice and recommendations align with the organization's planning policies, standards, and applicable legislation.
  • Contribute to enhancing service delivery by implementing best practices and maintaining customer-centric standards in a regulatory context.
  • Adhere to the organization's policies and Code of Conduct, ensuring compliance with equal opportunities principles.
  • Manage administrative and technical processes related to planning tasks, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet established quality assurance systems.
  • Engage in correspondence and discussions with the public and relevant officials to facilitate application determinations.
  • Conduct effective consultations and collaborations with local interests, statutory bodies, and other organizational services regarding Development Management issues.
  • Advance a variety of applications under relevant planning legislation and negotiate planning agreements as necessary.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to advocate for and implement equal opportunities in line with organizational guidelines.
  • Proficiency in interpreting plans, drawings, and technical information pertinent to planning applications and projects.
  • Competence in utilizing IT systems and equipment effectively.
  • Strong understanding of planning legislation and the plan-led system.
  • Awareness of planning challenges in urban environments.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in Town Planning or an equivalent discipline that supports membership in a recognized planning institute.
  • Willingness to participate in meetings or perform duties outside of standard working hours when required.
