Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Design Engineer to join our dynamic Structures Team at Leonardo's Yeovil site. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing structural design solutions in collaboration with other engineering departments and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, create, and deliver varied and challenging design tasks, concurrently engineered with the collaboration of Design/Analysis/Certification & Qualification/Manufacturing
  • Utilize your design skills to create, innovate, and mentor while leading teams of Structural engineers to achieve delivery of fit-for-purpose design solutions
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of sheet metal fabrication, machining, and composite design
  • Apply geometric tolerance control and design for manufacture principles to ensure efficient production processes
  • Stay up-to-date with aerospace fasteners and types of structural joints, as well as typical structural analysis failure criteria used to determine the static strength of structural components
  • Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations, such as MAA, EASA, or FAA
  • Manage and execute tasks to achieve challenging timescales and budgets

Requirements:

  • Experience using CATIA V5 or equivalent 3D design package
  • Knowledge of ENOVIA VPM or equivalent part management system
  • Ability to plan, capture/define requirements, and execute tasks to achieve challenging timescales and budgets
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Passion for engineering and enthusiasm to work as part of a team to deliver complex design solutions
