Head of Market Risk

**About the Role**

Octopus Energy is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Market Risk team. As a key member of our Energy Markets team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing Group and country-specific Market Risk Policies.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Collaborate with our supply entities in all countries to understand market conditions and agree on risk approaches.
  • Design and develop analysis and visualizations that collate country-specific risk positions into a single, clear Group view.
  • Pull together Group view on weather risk and originate and execute positions to manage this risk.
  • Work closely with local trading management to originate appropriate wholesale deals.
  • Explore the use of asset and consumer flexibility as risk management tools.
  • Generate explanatory materials for senior stakeholders, including the Octopus Energy Group board.

**Requirements**

  • Strong numerical ability and understanding of risk.
  • Energy market experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Basic Python knowledge is beneficial but not vital.
  • The ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects.
  • Interpersonal skills that enable you to form trusted relationships with business unit management teams.
