Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a Special Needs School in Tower Hamlets. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing individualized support to our students with special needs, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, adapting teaching methods and materials to accommodate their diverse abilities and learning styles.
  • Lead and assist small groups of students in various educational and developmental activities, promoting social interaction, emotional development, and self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), tracking progress and making adjustments as needed.
  • Support students in developing essential life skills, communication, and independence, while maintaining accurate records and progress reports.
  • Engage with parents/guardians and communicate effectively with all stakeholders regarding students' progress and well-being.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role, particularly with students with Autism and Learning Difficulties.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting students' development and well-being.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Adaptability and the ability to meet the diverse and evolving needs of individual students.
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies for supporting students with special needs.
