Estimator Role Overview

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team at Hunter Mason Consulting. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in estimating the costs of projects to meet or exceed customer and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Attend project meetings with the Surveying and Commercial Teams to discuss project details and requirements.
  2. Review quotations and negotiate costs with Sub-contractors via the Commercial Team to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  3. Break down specification and pricing documents into Sub-contract packages to ensure accurate estimates.
  4. Liaise with Clients Representative(s) to ensure that their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
  5. Identify, analyze, and develop responses to any commercial risk to ensure the business has a robust and defendable position.
  6. Ensure that all estimates are accurate, detailed, and inputted into the estimating system currently in use.
  7. Work closely with the Pre-Construction Department and the respective operations teams at tender stage, handover, and throughout the planning stages of each successful project.
Requirements:
  1. Have a practical and logical mind with a methodical way of thinking.
  2. Show a creative and innovative approach to problem-solving.
  3. Have the ability to write clear and precise reports and relay complex information in a simple and direct way to a diverse range of people.
  4. Have a detailed knowledge of past and current building technology, processes, materials, business, and legal matters.
  5. Participate in continuous self-development to stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
