Job Summary
As a Medical Assistant with Sentara, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a dynamic healthcare environment. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting phlebotomy, clinical, and clerical duties, working directly with a doctor to ensure seamless patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform patient care and administrative tasks based on training, education, and competency evaluations
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care
- Conduct phlebotomy, clinical, and clerical duties as delegated by and under the direction of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Provide administrative support, including verifying patient information and preparing patients for medical procedures
Requirements:
- Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting or one year experience as an EMT, Paramedic, and/or Corpsman
- Phlebotomy experience preferred, plus experience with electronic medical records
- Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic) required
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
