Job Title: Commis Chef
Location: Oldham

Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Commis Chef to become a vital member of our culinary team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our kitchen operations, assisting with the preparation of ingredients, cooking, and plating dishes under the supervision of experienced chefs. This position is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about learning and advancing in a dynamic culinary setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Assist with fundamental food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and cooking to ensure ingredients are ready for service.
  • Cooking Support: Aid the kitchen team during service by helping with cooking, plating, and ensuring that dishes are presented to the highest standards.
  • Kitchen Sanitation: Uphold cleanliness and organization in the kitchen while adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Learning & Development: Seize every opportunity to learn from senior chefs, enhancing your skills and culinary knowledge.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with stock management, including checking deliveries and proper storage of ingredients.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience: Some experience in a professional kitchen is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Culinary Skills: A basic understanding of cooking techniques and a passion for food.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly with colleagues.
  • Attention to Detail: A commitment to maintaining high standards in food preparation and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings.
  • Driving Requirement: Must be able to drive.

Desirable Skills:

  • Culinary Education: A culinary diploma or certificate, or progress towards one, is advantageous.
  • Eagerness to Learn: A proactive attitude towards learning and developing new skills in the kitchen.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: £14 per hour.
  • Hours: 2330 per week.
  • Benefits Package: Includes opportunities for training and professional development, staff meals, and potential career progression within the company. Holiday pay, sick pay, and pension are also included.
