We are excited to announce an opening for a Laboratory Technician within our Quality Department. We seek a committed professional to play a crucial role in the Dr. Oetker (UK) Ltd Laboratory Team, responsible for conducting a variety of analyses on raw materials, finished goods, and environmental samples.

  • Conduct routine analyses of raw materials and finished products according to established procedures, maintaining thorough records of results and reporting any discrepancies for trend analysis.
  • Assist in documenting and investigating products that do not meet specifications.
  • Perform regular environmental monitoring and provide guidance to the hygiene team regarding cleaning practices.
  • Carry out additional environmental assessments such as air quality tests and water analysis as necessary, ensuring any discrepancies are reported.
  • Enter data and results into the SAP QM system and relevant databases promptly.
  • Prepare necessary media for laboratory use.
  • Register samples for external laboratory analysis and monitor the results.
  • Ensure the safety, legality, and quality of all products and processes within your responsibilities, upholding the legal duty of care to employees and others.
  • Provide coverage as needed across all four laboratories, including Microbiology, Chemical, Raw Material Intake, and Food Technology.
  • Support additional tasks as assigned by the Laboratory Manager or Senior QA Manager to enhance the Quality Assurance process.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs in Mathematics and Science subjects or equivalent qualifications in Microbiology and/or food hygiene.
  • Relevant work experience in a laboratory or food manufacturing setting, particularly in a frozen food manufacturing environment or Quality Assurance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High levels of accuracy and numeracy.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze results.
  • Self-motivated with a practical and data-driven approach.
  • Flexibility and attention to detail.
  • A collaborative team player.
  • Good organizational and time management abilities.
