Registered Nurse - Ward FlexiBank
We are excited to present an excellent opportunity for a skilled Registered Nurse to become part of our welcoming and vibrant Ward team on a flexible bank contract.
Please be aware: this is a FlexiBank position requiring availability on an 'as needed' basis; your role will involve supporting staffing levels during peak times and covering for team members during their leave or absence.
Reporting directly to the Ward Manager, the successful candidate will deliver the highest quality of personalized patient care as a member of the clinical team, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients throughout their stay. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and adhere to hospital policies, national standards, and best practice guidelines.
Working Hours: FlexiBank shifts assigned as required
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver pre and post-operative care, assessing patient needs, and planning, implementing, and evaluating care programs.
• Determine patient care needs by building rapport and providing emotional and psychological support to patients and their families/caregivers.
• Offer healthcare guidance, educating patients/families/caregivers on conditions, medications, self-care, and health maintenance, addressing any inquiries they may have.
• Execute clinical nursing tasks, including administering medications, injections, intravenous infusions, and catheterization for both genders.
• Maintain accurate patient medical records and histories on relevant care pathways, clinical documentation, and IT systems.
• Develop tailored care plans through collaboration with other departments.
• Ensure effective and safe discharge planning to various locations.
• Engage in audit processes to monitor nursing quality.
• Assist in establishing and monitoring care pathways, evaluating health outcomes against patient care objectives and standards, and making or recommending necessary adjustments.
• Report incidents and complaints through the appropriate channels and escalate to senior staff if issues cannot be resolved.
• Accurately monitor and document Early Warning Scores and escalate as per policy.
• Conduct comprehensive handovers of patients between shifts, departments, and multidisciplinary teams, including external agencies.
Qualifications:
• Registered Nurse with NMC registration
Experience:
• Clinical nursing experience in elective surgical care.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Skills:
• Demonstrable knowledge and competency in required clinical practices. Skills in phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs, and intravenous antibiotics are advantageous.
• Strong written, numerical, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office Suite and web-based reporting systems.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
• Excellent customer service skills.
Desirable Attributes:
• Enthusiasm for collaborative working across clinical departments.
• Experience in the private healthcare sector.
• Relevant additional clinical skills.
