About the Role

As a Senior Programme Manager at NIHR, you will play a key role in leading the commissioning of research projects and overseeing the portfolio of research programmes. You will work collaboratively with other Senior Programme Managers to contribute to the strategic and operational development and management of the NIHR's research programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the commissioning of research projects and oversee the portfolio of research programmes.
  • Contribute to and lead strategic programme and departmental initiatives that relate to the three research programmes.
  • Draft and issue guidelines, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Attend committee meetings and provide advice as required.
  • Represent NIHR in cross-cutting working groups.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including attending and leading meetings.
  • Identify enhancements to working practices and implement processes to deliver operational excellence.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Operationalise ad-hoc special project work and assist in preparing programme reports.
  • Line manage up to three members of staff.
What You Will Bring

To be successful in this role, you will need a degree in biomedical, health, or social sciences, experience of working in a research management environment, and a track record of successful project and programme management. You will also need excellent planning, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
