Senior Programme Manager

As a Senior Programme Manager at NIHR, you will play a key role in leading the commissioning of research projects and overseeing the portfolio of research programmes. You will work collaboratively with other Senior Programme Managers to contribute to the strategic and operational development and management of the NIHR's research programmes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the commissioning and monitoring activities of the research team, overseeing the team's work and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Contribute to and lead strategic programme and departmental initiatives, taking a lead on common strategic initiatives and sharing best practice between teams.
- Draft and issue standard operating procedures, work instructions, and template documents, providing guidance to the team.
- Attend committee meetings in a supervisory capacity, providing advice and guidance to the committee as required.
- Represent NIHR in cross-cutting working groups, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to promote and represent funding programmes.
- Identify enhancements to working practices and implement processes to deliver operational excellence, developing and maintaining excellent professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Line manage up to three members of staff, monitoring their work and providing guidance and support as needed.
- Monitor the quality and timelines of research projects, ensuring that they are delivered to a high standard and on time.
To be successful in this role, you will need a degree in biomedical, health, or social sciences, experience of working in a research management environment, and a track record of successful project and programme management. You will also need excellent planning and organisational skills, as well as the ability to think strategically and interpret complex information.
