Breast Imaging Consultant Radiologist

Position Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Consultant Radiologist with a dedicated focus on Breast Imaging to become a vital part of our collaborative team at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive skill set in modern Breast Radiology and demonstrate a willingness to embrace new methodologies and enhance our breast imaging services.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will primarily engage in breast imaging, dedicating a minimum of four PAs to this specialty. Responsibilities will include:
- Conducting imaging assessments across various symptomatic and screening pathways.
- Participating in assessment clinics alongside fellow consultants, supported by a team of specialized breast care nurses, advanced practitioners, radiographers, and surgeons.
- Engaging in fast-track clinics where patients are triaged and may initially consult with either a surgeon or a radiologist, with radiologists performing most biopsies during the first visit.
- Promoting service innovation through flexible working arrangements, role enhancement, and mentoring of junior and paramedical staff.
- Assisting in the training of specialty trainees within the Portsmouth Radiology Training Scheme and other rotating SpRs from Southampton.
- Contributing to the overall development of the Radiology Department by participating in departmental projects, equipment procurement, administration, management, audits, teaching, research, and fostering positive relationships with hospital clinicians and GPs.
- Supporting the training and supervision of paramedical colleagues in a diverse skill environment.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
- Completion of higher professional training in Radiology.
- FRCR qualification.
Desirable:
- BSc or MSc qualifications.
- MRCP or MRCS (or equivalent).
